Blogger Blahs

Sorry I haven't posted in a while for the 5 or 6 of you that check in regularly. There have been a couple interesting things lately, but I honestly didn't want to blog about the same things over and over.

Some celebs were at the club this week. Some behaved perfectly fine, and were downright nice and (seemingly) normal. Other celeb's "peeps" were name-dropping asshats whom I wanted to slap. If anybody wants names, let me know in the comments and I'll be more specific.

The only thing that's SUPER cool are these two tidbits. My t-shirt partner and I are being "picked up" by Paizo publishing. Only a complete nerd would know who that is, and even then some of the nerds might need to be told.

At any rate, our t-shirts and our new hit item the dice purse will be available on the Paizo site in about a month.

The other item of interest was sent to me by my beautiful and clever wife.

It turns out that even small loans can help dirt poor people get out of poverty by their own hand, rather than being given money outright. This guy just got the Nobel Peace Prize for his creation of "microcredit" loans. I found it very encouraging and uplifting. It made me feel like a selfish piece of crap for my money worries and put things into perspective.

Oh, and he helped all those really poor people. I mean, he changed their lives for the better and has put into practice an ideology I admire and support, but come on...I have to figure out how this is about me.

This is Hollywood, Goddamnit.

OK, one interested party and I drop names!

Michael Rosenbaum was very nice and normal. We chatted for a bit.

K-fed's posse talked to me for a while feeling out if they were going to get into VIP for free (hahahahaaaa!) Mr. Fed himself didn't come up to the rope.

Wilmer Valderrama was there, but I only saw him for 15 seconds. Don't know who he was with.

Andy Milonakis was very hammered, but with a well-tipping party.

If you google the words "new Sony artist" and they're a rapper in LA, they were probably there as well. Sony obviously had a big presence at the club, and they were all broke chumps.

No VIP for them.

There were a couple of girls that have been in a movie or two lately, but honestly, they're completely interchangable and forgetable to me.

I don't know if that's horribly misogynistic or not, I'll ask my wife.

--really asked--

She said she doesn't even know how to spell "misogynistic", how would she know?

Michael Rosenbaum is from my Home town. Although I have never met him, he has a nice reputation. Him and his wife donated about $1200 to the MDA telethon that I worked at this year.

I guess not all celebrities are bad but it is more fun to talk about when they are. Most of the celebs I have intereacted with have been generally OK. But I was doing some work for them so who knows how they are with people they don't need something from?

Congratz Mike!

I had no idea who Paizo Publishing was until GENCON (WTOC) sold my email address to them and I started getting their adds. At least I don't remember giving them my address at the CON 2 years back...

Ahhh, now I get to be SUPER-nerdy!

Dragon Magazine was one held by TSR and went to WOTC when they bought everything.

WOTC ran Dragon for a while, but didn't find it to be profitable enough to justify the department. They sold off the magazine (to somebody that was a founder of WOTC anyways) and that company became Paizo.

So really, they didn't sell your information, they just gave it to the new company. I've found Paizo to be a much better marketer and take better care of the magazine (as well as do other things at the website) than WOTC did.

Ah, thanks for the low-down. I guess I missed all this once I stopped subscribing to Dragon about 3-4 years ago. I realized I didn't have much free time to read them anymore. What clued me into this was the fact that I would bring them to the game and Chuck's wife would be the first to open them. They would sit in my case for a few months without being opened. I knew it was time to reconsider my subscription.

And no... I didn't take up pirating free PDF versions off the Internet.
