Nice Strikin'

Since Wal-mart is notoriously wasteful and mismanages inventory like crazy, I'm sure they were making money hand over fist with downloading movies.

The article claims that download sales represented 1% of DVD sales in 2006. Would you take 5 months off work for a 1% raise? That's some fine accounting.

Even if the "industry experts" are right, we're still talking about fighting NOW for a 10% raise up to ten years from now.

While we can all thank our lucky stars that Aaron Sorkin isn't putting pen to paper for a few months, the strike still has a lot more negatives than positives for the industry as a whole, while the writers stand to gain next to nothing in the next 3-5 years for their efforts.

Just so I post every so often, I thought of a "feature" blog I can do. While I think it will result in some good (and entertaining) entries, I'm mostly doing this format because it requires so little effort.

So the feature is this; whenever I see or experience something that seems uniquely "LA", I'll capture it on my cell phone as best I can. Then I'll try to write some crap and make it funny.

Here's a big triple-feature starter;

The newest game show I just cast, DUEL, was shot on the Disney lot in Burbank. Just as one would expect at Disney, the squirrels can all sing, dance and smile all the time. While this little guy wasn't singing or dancing, he was -quite- fat and not shy at all about getting a handout.

For some strange reason, they seem to hang out around the commissary.



This is a piece of graffiti on a power box...or phone thing. I think it has something to do with traffic lights. Whatever it is, somebody slapped one of those graffiti stencils on it from this company.




Finally, just going to pick up a salad in West Hollywood may end in a hug from a decked-out, fully made-up tranny....
